Anyone hear that the Crystal Lounge was robbed last night?

how is it illegal for me to drive through town with a broken front window and not illegal for one of the wpd to drive down the same streets with a front window busted up so badly i don't know how he sees through it? i noticed this the other day as the officer was on his way to work...just curious

yeah, i heard about the Crystal, someone broke in thru the roof and ceiling. Gettin high tech now ain't they.

Well, now we know why the poster at Will Whitaker's column was chomping at the bit for a new Wellsville room: he wanted to get the news out about the robbery at the Crystal.
How long will it be before it turns into a rant about Joe Scarabino, the part-time cops, Mayor Surace, or...let's see, oh yeah, Ed Wilson?

Hay Matt can you edit those last 2 comments out?I think they are very inappropriate here!!!Some people need to go to church instead of a bar!!

Well, now, FYI, 7:15, the poster at Will's column was not the one who posted about the robbery. The Wellsville room is for people to talk about what's going on in Wellsville. The robbery is Wellsville news. YOU brought up Joe Scarabino, the mayor, and the PT cops. Maybe that's really what you WANT to hear about. Or maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, just like YOU did.
And I agree, Matt. Edit those two comments.

Nice photo of the 356 Matt, Chappie and brother Buddy, ran a nice business for many years. Bud passed away some years back, but Chap is still around. Both treated people with respect. Chappie is 91 now but still is a good old dude.

There is a meeting today at 4:00 at the high school concerning the new coal plant that is coming to the area. Tracy Drake and company officials are to be there to explain things to the public and Village Officials.

Councilman Joe Soldano

I didn't know the citizens of Wellsville had such delicate sensiblities, Matt. Perhaps you should make the pictures for the room of kittens and flowers instead of offnsively harsh buildings.

What do you mean 1:47, about the good comments for Chappie and Buddy, or the first stupid comment of 10:51 I don't understand.

Thanks Joe for the info on the meeting, I am interested in hearing what they are going to say about the plant.

If this plant comes here, our worries are over, that simple. More jobs, firemen, police, trickle on down. It will be the biggest project in these United States of America.

4:23 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

That is why I hope they don't run them out. We are known for running buisness out of town!

Can someone who attended the coal company meeting tell us what went down?

7:33 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

There were so many people there, it was GREAT! There was at least one of the following: State Rep., Commissioner, Mayor, School Super...X2 at least, local fire, local police, deputy, Democratic people and Republican people. There were more suits and ties and PDA's than Wellsville has seen for a long time. It sounds like this is a go and will start soon. The permitting stage is still going on, and full construction will start in the Summer of '08, with the project being up and running in 2011. It will bring 175 to 225 full time jobs to the place. It is coming and I am sure the full details will be in the papers tomorrow. We got it!!!!

8:42 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I was not able to attend due to my mothers illness. I heard that the plant construction may start in early 2008. Also there may be around 1500 or so construction jobs to build the plant, then maybe around 150 to 200 permanent jobs. Remember it is early in the game yet and these figures may change either way. I know that we as Village Officials will do everything that we can to assist the plant. Hopefully this is the shot in the arm Wellsville and surrounding areas need to get the economy going again. This is the best news we have had in a long time. Again I regret not being able to attend, it was out of my control. Best wishes to all involved.

Councilman Joe Soldano

Also there will be more coal mining jobs, possibly up to 700. The plant may be completed in 2011.

"WELLSVILLE ROOM"

That's what is says 7:15 am.

So if "Wellsville" wants to talk about the mayor, chief, lt., or anything else, it can be done in the "WELLSVILLE ROOM"!

6:56 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

6:56 a.m., my point was, try saying something NEW about Wellsville for a change.
The same old crap all the time.
This news about the new plant, for instance, is "NEW" information and worth reading.

8:07 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I see where you will need a degree in something to get a job at the new plant. Good, this will keep the people who get good jobs just because they know somebody. They are not qualified for these jobs, but they get them because of who they know. I do think though even if you have a degree you will still need to know someone to get a job there. There are too many people out there out of work. I am sure there will be thousands of job seekers for the 200 permanent jobs. Whatever, good luck to all.

That picture is horrible. Its a shame that these building are still standing. The owners should be made to tear it down, Ive seen about 40 pigeons flying into the upper floor of this place. What a disgrace to what it used to be. And also look at the bank next to it. It used to be a beautiful building and now its a smut factory. As much as I support and love this village there are things like this that make me embarrassed to live here.

9:19 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I do not know who owns that building now. Chappie and Buddy sold it back in the late 80s or early 90s.

Who ever was bashing the Fire Dept. I ask you this. Was you around in the last few years to see them save alot of houses, and buisnesses with the Super Foods fire? and recently, the banana shack? It was with a lot of help from other depts, but they were the 1st on the scene making the initial attack. And I commend them for there effort, everytime that whistle blows.

A smut factory? I always wondered where smut was manufactured.

2:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes I was around why? The fireman comments are not bashing the department as a whole. There are always bad apples no matter where you go and the fire department has at least one bad apple thats all I said. Every police, fire department, and other agencies in the area has or has had bad apples in there departments.

The picture is sad. It gives you a good look at what Welssvile has become. When I was a kid the 356 was a nice place to go.

Maybe the Chamber of Commerce should take a good look around before their next meeting.

1:04 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I'm a chamber member, what is it we're supposed to do. Maybe teach people how to clean their places up. How to operate a business properly? Just how?

7:37 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

It was nice back when I was a kid too. But then again, drugs did not flow thru the streets like it does now. Add to that, the DUI laws were not the way they are now either. It's hard to attract all the good peop[le when they are afraid to go to a place because of the 2 things I just mentioned

7:46 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hey 7:37 please tell us what IT IS THAT YOU DO?

10:42 PM

Do you enjoy the parade, Santa, the flowers at the gazebo, the gazebo itself, the park under rt 45, the flowers on the bridge, the welcome signs at exits, the citizens of the year. the rabies clinic every year, wait, what is it you do again. Are we the babysitters of the businesses?

1:51 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

yea, love that park by rt. 45. now that is a real park and an asset to the community. everyone always wants to go there. you can tell because theres always such a big crowd there.

HAVE ONE OF YOUR MEMBERS OR FORMER MEMBERS, SHARON GATES CLEAN THE BUILDING UP. HAVE MR SEND PEOPLE LETTERS, DON BROWN, SEND HER ASS A LETTER, THATS WHAT YOU DO.

8:29 AM

To 7:52, it's a park asshole, to look at. to greet people at the entrance, not a freakin playgroung. If it's people you want to see go to a big city and check real estate there.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Chamber of Commerce (also referred to in some circles as a Board of Trade, though this phrase is not commonly used in the United States) is a form of business network. The primary goal of a chamber is to improve the business climate in a locality, typically through business networking, lobbying, and common projects and a selection of business services.

Nothing about flowers or rabies???

2:46 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

To 2:46 Who would do the work to the keep the villiage looking decent? You? Will you donate your time to plant and water the flowers, etc?
The Chamber does a lot things that need done, because no one else would do it..

Typical Wellsville..... there are always plenty of lazy good for nothings who justify their laziness by making fun of the people who work to make the town nice.

4:10 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think for the next wellsville room there should be a picture of the best thing about Wellsville. THE ROAD LEADING OUT.

5:06 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

You people are sickening. Wellsville's chamber has always worked hard to provide the "niceties" for the village that others wouldn't.
Yes, it should focus more on business, maybe, but at least it does something. Some chambers really do nothing but hold social gatherings for its members...I won't mention any local names.

9:48 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

If you find that the best thing about Wellsville is the road leading out maybe you should take it. It is people like you that make Wellsville such a great place to live. Instead of critisizing maybe you should help fix the things you find broken. I do agree though that the 356 needs to be cleaned along with many other buildings in Wellsville, at the expense of the owners not the city.

Shame on all of you who do this. If you want some money, GET A FUCKING JOB and earn it like the rest of us. Just don't come to my house or you will meet two good friends of mine, LS and AB, andhe likes to make a really nice sound, especially when he connects with a ball.
