Back on the job

For those of you who have been wondering if WPD Lt. Ed Wilson would come back to work, the wait is over. After repeated attempts to take his badge and even put him in prison, Ed was welcomed back this morning by some of his many Wellsville friends. Click to enlarge.

Say what you will about Ed. I don't pretend to know or even care about all the politics involved. But as a fellow emergency worker in the area, I can say that I am very glad to see Ed back working in the area. Arriving on an emergency scene in Wellsville and seeing Ed Wilson always provided me with some calming and reassurance that he was going to be doing his job and always having the EMS workers back. Ed exhibits all the traits and qualities of professionalism that i've come to expect from the ELPD, St. Clair PD and others. Thanks Ed and be safe.
Thanks for coming back Eddie! It would've been hard for anyone to return after all the publicity.
Being a single mom in town, it makes me feel safer that you are back on the force!
You've always been willing to step outside the box and do what you feel is right, which is more than I can say for some of your co-workers.
I hope you can go back to your normal routine of life, and you and your family can come to peace with the community of Wellsville.
It is nice to see Eddie back. It was hard not seeing him whenever I went to Wellsville. Not saying he will make things better, but at least Eddie will make a big change.
WECOME BACK EDDIE!
Finally,
Dave Lloyds adminstration pics. They might not want to wear their pajamas to work though.
Welcome back Ed. It's good to see you protecting the citizens of Wellsville again.
Not so fast my friend, state audit to be released on Tues. Maybe someone else concerned also.
Damn, too bad the S.O.I. folks were not around when this picture was taken, they want to talk to a few of those people. WOW, what the hell?
Nice picture, Jeffy!
who took these pictures? Wow
I took the photos John McClelland. If you need a 8X10 let me know, The proceeds will go to Ed Wison law suit fund. I hope this ordeal is over. The tax payer has lost enough money for nothing more then a grudge.
Also due to the motion on the floor to investigate the Police Department and not just one person the findings are public knowledge. We are waiting for the results, and would hope not to use the Public Records Act to retrieve them.
That gang would be better then the administration we have now. Maybe they could make good honest decisions. What Wellsville has now can't. They had to pay someone from out of town to be the scapegoat. That's leadership?????? Tell me is it?
It's Just Me again Matt. I had told you early on last week, I believe Saturday, that Ed would be back on Suday. It sure is sad though that the mayor has no comment on why the reinstatement of Ed's job was made. Read that in Evening Review, front page, but he had plent of comments as to why he was suspended. So why none now??? Because he doesn't know what to say or how to say it,,,is my guess
Wow, Matt, what'd you do to ol' Nib? He's sure blasting you on his blog.
It's to bad the people of Wellsville lost all money wasted on this. Money that could of went to upgrade equipment, buy new equipment, repair pot holes. I would like to know the total price tag on the bull shit Surace and his Administration wasted. I bet it's well over 25k. They lost and most of all, the people they represent lost. Glad I'm gone and live out of town!
How much do you want to bet that the mayor is waiting til after the election to release the findings of the attorney. Must not be good news for them...
Original Just me--
I am glad to see Ol' Nib finally coming out. He's been neutral too long!
Obviously, he and I disagree on the the Ed Wilson issue, but that's ok. I've posted a response on his site responding to his disdain for my approach to the matter. That he has thrown in with the Dark Side is up to him. I'm just glad to see that he's finally come out.
By the way, ORL readers can join the discussion at Ole Nib's site here:
thevilleview.blogspot.com
I followed the link and read the Ole Nib's view on the Wellsville situation and I couldn't bring myself to comment. I have really tried over the last few years of my life to force myself to not engage in trite discussions with people that you obviously aren't going to broaden their mind or sway them from their opinions. Blogging is an interesting tool and opens the door to all kinds of discussions; and Ole Nib is certainly entitled to his opinion. But it boggles my mind that someone can be ignorant to the much bigger issue at hand here. Surace aside, Scarbino aside, Swoger aside, all the politics involved aside. The issue that stands out most to me is the realization that no matter how competent you are at your job, no matter how much passion you work with, no matter how good of an employee you are... if you get on the wrong side of proverbial company line, you can be henpecked and ostracized until you are eventually out of a job. And some of these people have been at their job for years and years. This isn't an Ed Wilson issue, or a race issue. It's a bottom of the totem pole worker issue. I'm not opening up a discussion for unions or so forth, but really, there is no job protection or security if you get on the wrong side of management, or in this case, administration. Anyone who believes that this thing is over is wearing blinders. Unless their is a change in adminstration or leadership, it's never going to change. I, personally, have had no problems with anyone in wellsville, but I don't live there, nor do I pretend to understand what went on with this situation. Just reading the Ole Nib's blog reminded me how ignorant some people are after you get caught in the whirlwind of personal/political debates. Tunnel vision is a good word. Personal conflicts and friendship lines have been drawn. Good luck to all involved, I hope there is an amicable end, but I'm afraid there isn't.
I don't know the Mayor, but it seems to me that he's chicken shit to stand up and do the right thing in this case. The one's responsible for screwing things up should turn in their resignations. The one in command should call it quits, he looks like a fool for jumping to conclusions without all the facts. I wonder how many other innocent have paid fines, and gone to jail for nothing?? Wellsville is truly a joke, ask anyone. Shame Shame Shame on you.
Matt, I can't believe you are responding to those Surace morons on the Wellsville blog. They are showing what kind of idiots are voting for Surace. They are showing the voters why not to vote for Surace.
Aw heck, it's fun for me. This is my element. I enjoy it. I can take care of myself. Besides, Ole Nib called me out, and I can't very well refuse to mix it up with a fellow blogger. The election is heating up. It's great!
I just read the Wellsville blog site. I am amazed. this whole Wilson/Surace/Lloyd issue is probably the most exciting thing that has ever to the Ville.
First Wilson. this whole issue started with the Roberts murder and has grown to other things along the way. The only way to stop Ed was to get rid of him and that has not happen, yet. This one is not over, not by a long shot.
Second Surace. The man has been critized during his tenure as mayor and not much was made out of it, until the survey. It has been a total nightmare for him and for those who support him. Now we have two blog site going toe to toe as of who is right and who is wrong. there is no right or wrong, just opinions that, to me, don't matter. What matters is who wins at election time
Third Lloyd. He has stated why he didn't vote for those years and I too have felt the same as he and I think many others feel that way too. He answered the questions and did not hide. He has put out there what he wants to do and if elected plan on doing it. He will have some opposition if elected and that is natural.
I am from Wellsville and care what happens to my town. but unfortuantly I live in East Liverpool and can not vote down there. I usually do not get involved in the he said/she said game of the political arena but this here mayoral race has done nothing but divide village even further apart and that is sad. bewteen the Wilson saga to the Surace survey to the Lloyd non voting issue people are being nice to each other but nasty as soon as the back is turned. I am not asking for everyone to get along because I know it will not happen. Just make sure the person you vote for the right person for the job and not a bandwagon voter because if you do vote for the person you vote for and turns out that the person is not right for the job it would your vote that got him there.
And that is my opinion.
joe surace should just make eddie and joe scarbino ride together as partners and the first one to complain get rid of him
Matt, got something for you. Read page 7A of the MJ, dated 10/23/07, under Wellsville. That's so sad!! I bet I could guess who's grandchildren committed this act, and they live right where it happened. Can you guess who's grandchildren would do this??
To Concerned Citizen
I couldn't agree more that the mayor is waiting until after the election and of course it's not good news for them, otherwise, Ed wouldn't be on the job. Now having him back is GREAT NEWS
Whats really sad about the article, if it's who's yard I think it is, I would not put any sign in that yard. Just think about it, you will figure it out. Wellsville's most talked about CREW.
Hell, if I was Dave Lloyd, I would take that sign down. That yard will not get him any votes, believe me.
It amazes me that no Wellsville Police Officers were present to welcome there comrade back. Why don't they back each other?? It's funny, the shoe could be on the other foot someday. They all should remember that strong unions built this county. They did it by sticking together, and fighting for one another, they gave each other support. If this department expects respect from the community they need forget about the past and start new. Do they have the leadership to do it? I don't think so. It will never end and the tax payer will be footing the bill. The price tag should be made public so the people know how much money Surace is dumping into the Ohio River.
Wellsville has a few thousand people that live in the Townships, that's protected by our Sheriff. Let's talk about that, leave the Village alone.
to townshipper
You've got to be kidding?? Hell the community better stay involved, it will really get bad if they leave it alone. And the Sheriff has his day in court. What do you think the outcome will be??
As we figured, no Surace at the meet the candidates night. Dave Lloyd was there, and did a good job. What the hell, I have never heard of a candidate not going to any candidate nights. I could see missing 1 because of an emergency, but Surace is a joke. USUALLY A CANDIDATE THAT MISSES DEBATES, ARE THE ONES WHO KNOW THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF WINNING.Is that the reason Joe, do you think you are done? You have one more chance, The Future Voters of Wellsville, are having their meet the candidate night, Thurs. at 7:00, at the Alumni Center. We already heard you won't be there. Oh well, thats more press for Dave Lloyd. At least he has enough respect for the youth in Wellsville to attend. The only question we have is will any Council Candidates show up, or do you have them on a string. Allmon, you need all the help you can get, only winning in the primary by a few votes. Don't let Surace and your Father In Law Saracco, mess up your chances, you need to go. That goes for all Council Candidates, you don't have anything won yet. Please use your head, don't follow that loser Surace, attend the Candidate Night.
Missed the article in the MJ dated 10/23 on page 7A under Wellsville..Could you tell alittle more of what happened without naming names? And to ONLY IN THE VILLE , I agree 100% about no officers being there to welcome Ed back..They will wish they stuck together if it happens to them. (But, of course that's why they kiss butt with you know who)Thanks
OK just read a letter to the editor (Review) from Chief (and i use that lightly), Scarbino..What a joke.. Even though he may have disiplined a office for discharging his weapon why didn't it hit the papers..Also no mention of the officer that wrecked the police car with an invalid license..WHAT A JOKE HE IS..Everyone knows why he wants to keep Surace in.. won't have the power to run Lloyd..
[Quote from Review letter from Scarabino]: "(Lloyd)then states that an officer’s weapon discharged during “horseplay” at the fire station and nothing was put in the paper.
However, he fails to mention there was an all points bulletin issued that night for a suspect who shot a police officer and was still at large.
I’ve taken any officer who was disciplined for any reason, conferred with our village solicitor and Mayor Surace, rendered my decision and treated the officers with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism to the best of my ability, as was the case here.
After a thorough investigation, appropriate discipline was rendered."
Ummmm, just HOW was the treatment of Eddie Wilson professional and confidential? Why did it take $10,000 to "render appropriate discipline," since you say you did the same for other officers FOR FREE, and if there was a cop-killer running loose that made it too difficult for you to discipline officers who discharged a weapon, why were your men horse-playing in the office in the first place instead of out on the street, looking for him?
Doesn't wash, Joe.
Theres more to come. Some people just dont know when to quit. Stay tuned for the next chapter in the never ending BULL SHIT story .Please mayor put an end to this before you go.Do something right just once.Put an end to a lot of non sense. You cant be yellow all the time.Stand up and be a good honest man and do what you know is right .It may be your last chance for redemption.I dought it but its worth a try.It might even make you sleep better at night.
"Don't let Surace and your Father In Law Saracco, mess up your chances, you need to go."
^--I don't think they have an impact on whether Allmon attends or not. Also, I'm sure he would find the father in law comment offensive considering the fact you said it would MESS UP his chances. If you want to act like you have some type of knowledge or good advice on winning, there's no need to do it in such an insulting manner. Plus, I really don't agree that if Allmon follows Surace & Saracco that it is a negative action.
I honstly do not feel comforable with Wilson back on duty. I cant't believe how people harass the cops we have now just for stupid rumors. With some of the stunts that Wilson has pulled, he should be thrown in prison.
Guess what Queenie, Allmon does listen to Surace and Pappy In Law, He will not attend the candidate night either, because they told him not to. Get with it, he is already a puppet.
I heard that too Deb, you would think Allmon would go to these candidate nights, because of all the people running, he needs the most help to win. I know I won't vote for him. No, Puppet Boy won't get my vote.
For what it's worth, Randy Allmon was at the Morning Journal's candidate night, sitting in and listening.
I went to the Future Voters of Wellsville Candidate Night. Hats off to the students it was well organized and attended. Dave Lloyd was there, but Surace was not. He was represented by his daughter. My hat goes off to Fire Chief Bill Smith, Randy Allmon, Councilman Joe Soldano, and a Rep. from Bycroft, sorry I forgot his name. All the Candidates did well, as did Suraces's Daughter, and Chief Smith. Shame on Marcin, Tony Cataldo and John McMahon for not showing up. Thats okay, I did not know who I was voting for as far as Council goes, but I do now. Good job to the students, this shows what a small group can do when they put their mind's to it. Congrats to all participating Candidates, you all did well.
I guess some of you dont know what you are talking about as usual. I read in the last post that Allmon was at the candidate night. And Surace was represented. You people out to at least wait til the event happens before you make assholes of yourselves.
I'm so glad to see Ed Wilson back on the job.
