A real nice picture. The reflection in the puddle is a nice touch. Of course, I'm partial to the Kansas City downtown shot, you bastard.
What use to be Wallover Oil Co sitting next to Virginia Avenue. I almost got killed on my bike right there as a kid.
Jeff--I'll get to your KC shot. I'm looking for a context. Why don't you write something to go along with it. Arkansas--I don't recall you ever describing the incident with the bike. Coincidentally, we were out on our bikes when I took this picture, but I have no near-death experience to report.
I was probably 6 or 7 years old at the time. I came around the corner from from the alley onto Virginia Avenue turning left. Chuck Heasley, who lived in the neiborhood on Ohio Avenue and was an insurance man I believe, was driving toward the RR tracks had to screech his brakes hard to miss me. I can still remember the deer-in-the-headlights feeling I had of total innocence and ignorance to the very stupid move I made on the bike. I could have easily been seriously hurt or killed.
Jeff, who gives a shit about your Kansas City downtown shot?
Well, Wendy, aren't YOU appropriately-named (altho Whiner is spelled with an "h").Correct me if I'm wrong but I assumed the purpose of this photo was to show the deplorable condition this city street is in, not the aesthetics, although it is a very clear photo and the reflection is nice.
Wendy--Did we drink too much coffee today? Jeff's KC pic will run when he writes a cutline for it.Geez-o-man--Actually the photo has nothing to do with showing the condition of the street, although it does do that. I just liked the way everything looked. It was a beautiful day.
Wendy-wench ---I'll have you know that I'm eager to see the photo on the site because 1) Matt will fix it up real nice and 2) KC is on the Missouri River and, because this site is Ohio River-based, I thought there would be a nice symbolic connection. And downtown shots aren't always easily shot by camera; luckily KC has some nice vantage points. Those explanations don't offend you, do they Wendy? You MUST be from Wellsville, with that godawful attitude of yours...
Jeff, I'm from Wellsville, and who cares where you moved to. Go swim in the Missouri River.
All I see here is a mudhole in another of East Liverpool's back alleys.
And Jeff, I have family in KC. It is a nice place, when you aren't in the barrio neighborhoods where the illegal Mexicans have moved, or down in the ghettos by the stadium, or anywhere around the meth houses out in the burbs. But they do have some good music and barbecue in KC. Yes, I have been to KC. And do you want to tell everyone here what the "big penis in the sky" is, or may I? And maybe you can go down there some night and take some photos...
I don't see a penis anywhere in any photograph... What the hell...? Sometimes when I get on this site, I honestly think I've left planet Earth --- but then I realize that most of the people in Columbiana County aren't of this earth so it just makes sense.Your description of KC is only partly true. What ghettos near the stadiums are you referring to? All cities have such neighborhoods --- but one thing going for cities, however, is that one EXPECTS a city of 500,000 to have some bad elements in it, as opposed to ELO and Wellsville which have, what, 11,000 and 4,000 (respective) people and where there are many, many shitty neighborhoods.I've walked downtown at night by my lonesome and have felt perfectly safe; I've even walked along Independence Avenue east of the city at night and, again, felt pretty safe.Okay, there's crime, but what of it? Oh, yeah, the meth problem... Funny thing about that is that one of the reasons Missouri or this area in general is considered the METH capital is that police here actually bust criminals, unlike in the Ohio Valley, which then puts the bust in the papers and on TV.And to that moron who told me to swim in the Missouri River --- I plan to. Nice thing about it is that, at least around here at this river juncture, there isn't a threat of nuclear meltdown. Well, as I figured, 2 out of 3 didn't really appreciate the attempt and final attempt at putting a picture of KC on ORL. So, sorry, no more. I can't even imagine that someone would make an issue out of it...
You sure have balls coming on here an bad mouthing your own home.. I hope you like it out there because people around here won't forget what you think of them.
As far as I'm concerned, Jeff Martin is welcome in East Liverpool anytime, and he can put pictures and words on ORL whenever he wishes.
