This photo came from Brassy Beresford of the Wellsville Historical Society. Brassy was told it is a picture of old Wellsville, but he thinks it's East Liverpool. Tell us what you think. Click to enlarge.
Matt this picture is crazy, this picture appears to have been taken from the property in which my brother owns today. Top of florence street in east liverpool. His house is the one on the very top of the hill, if you look up from the clover leaf you will see a heart shape in his yard made of stones. There are house that are still standing in this photo that I compared from his house and it appears that this picture might have been taken in his yard long time ago.
Things in the distance of the picture really suffer from distortion.
There is a church in the pic that could be the church on the corner of 3rd Street and Jackson.
There is what appears to be a school that could be 6th Street school.
However, the Oliver Burford house is no where to seen and it was built before 6th Street School was built.
Also there is no via duct in the pic, but that had a short lifespan and during the time it existed the Newell Bridge was present and it isn't in the picture either.
So I have doubts about it being ELO or not at least the area that 6th Street School would be located in.
Looks like Wellsville to me. Most likey photographed from Buckeye Avenue. In the center and left , along the river , could be the Immaculate Conception Church and Riverside Presbyterian

East Liverpool. Looks like the Sixth St. school and The viaduct in the right side.
