Epiphany
by M. Stewart
Ok, I finally get it. I'm embarrassed at how long it took, but enlightenment does come to those who are patient. At least that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.
My epiphany came when I was watching Bill O'Reilly interview Ann Coulter on Fox News. Coulter apparently wrote a column titled "A Glowing Report on Radiation" in which she claims that excessive amounts of nuclear radiation, such as that being released at damaged Japanese nuclear power plants, is actually good for us.
Coulter told O'Reilly that "a stunning number of physicists" have provided a "growing body of evidence that radiation in excess of what the government says are the minimum amounts you should be exposed to are actually good for you and reduce cases of cancer."
Coulter went on to say that her information comes from the New York Times and the Times of London, yet in the next breath she claimed that these findings have been covered up by the news media. "The point is that the media will not report this because a) it's not sensationalistic to say that humans are going to have two heads, and b) it's an anti-nuclear power thing." Yes, this is a quotation.
I'm watching this and trying to follow Coulter's argument. Ok, so she got this information from the New York Times and the London Times, but there is a media conspiracy to cover it up because it's not sensational enough to report that "humans are going to have two heads."
For those of you who aren't familiar with the word epiphany, Webster's defines it as "a sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something; an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking; an illuminating discovery; a revealing scene or moment."
Listening to Coulter talk to O'Reilly was my epiphanic moment. Everything suddenly became clear as though God were speaking directly to me. Ann Coulter's voice was God's voice. I know it. And here is what God revealed to me:
They're all actors.
Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachman, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Glenn Beck and all those who claim to be conservatives in the American media--ACTORS. Think about it. Have you ever seen their birth certificates?
Not only are they actors, they are actors hired by the Democratic Party to make Republicans look silly. There is no other rational explanation. The actor who plays the part of "Rush Limbaugh" laughs at the crisis in Japan and makes fun of Japanese refuges. The actor who plays "Bill O'Reilly" goes on the air and claims that his religion is true because no one can explain why the ocean tides come in and out. On a daily basis, the comedian who plays "Sarah Palin" says and does ridiculous things and even has her own reality TV show.
The clues are everywhere for those willing to see. Look no further than ORL. A poster who calls himself "Bozo the Clown" gives us daily reports on the virtues of the Tea Party. "Bob" offers up a daily serving of paranoid, jealous rage that no Tea Party poster will even acknowledge, let alone support. We see a steady line of birthers and frakkers and polluters. These guys are all working for the Democratic Party! It's unreal, and I mean literally "unreal"--as in it can't be real.
That's because it ISN'T real. People, I'm telling you that we're all being jacked around by a giant Democratic Party-controlled comedy show. You know that Tina Fey, the alleged actress who played Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live? Well, she really is Sarah Palin, and Sarah Palin is Tina Fey. Are you getting it now? Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
Let me repeat: there are clues all around for those willing to remove the blinders. In this inverse universe, you've got to think as though everything is a reflection in a mirror, and even that is an illusion. Truth is apparent only when you realize that everything is fiction.
The biggest clue that God gave us was not the Bible--although the Bible contains thousands of clues. No, the biggest clue was the 1998 so-called "fictional" movie, The Truman Show. Don't talk to me until you have seen that movie. It is the voice of God.

Yes, some scientists subscribe to the hormesis theory -- which states that SMALL amounts of radiation may be beneficial. Not amounts "higher than what the government says we should have" And certainly not the amounts from a nuclear weapon or a nuclear power accident. Every time she opens her mouth, she proves how stupid she really is.
When that ass O'Reilly thinks what you're saying is 'out there' you know you're totally batshit! Stick to what you know Ann - like hatred and bigotry - and leave science to those who know what they are talking about.

So "Truman" was actually a documentary, conceived by the Hollywood liberal elite type folk to distract us? Kind of like hiding in plain sight? And the "Matrix" is actually a reality show?
I guess I should cancel my vacation plans to that uranium mine she was talking about.
Michigan Dems charged in fake tea party scandal

Two Michigan Democrats were arraigned Wednesday on election corruption charges for allegedly propping up of fake tea party candidates in 2010, the Detroit News reports.
Former Democratic Party Chairman Michael McGuinness (right) and ex-operations director Jason Bauer have been charged with forgery, putting people up for office without their knowledge and other charges. The two party leaders allegedly conspired to field phony tea party candidates in an apparent bid to siphon off GOP votes and boost Democrats in two Michigan County Commission races and a state Senate race last year, according to the newspaper. Several of the charges are felonies, some of which carry penalties of up to 14 years in prison.
McGuinnes and Bauer resigned their positions in August. News reports indicate they have not commented on this week's charges.
Last year, as tea party power grew across the country, tea partiers began accusing Democrats and others of using their party label to run fake candidates and skew elections. A lawsuit was filed in Florida last year where Democrats, including then-Rep. Alan Grayson, were accused of creating a Florida Tea Party.

Actors? Yes, and it all started with that actor Ronnie Reagan.
I find many silly talkers on the more mainstream news but Fox has a concentration of people who don't mind appearing silly. Some organizations fire people who spout nonsense; Fox apparently encourages it. I am a Christian but I would never let the Republicans speak me. Lately, the ones I see are embarassing. Makes you long for the days of Buckley and Will. Nixon looked sane next to the Foxes.
I'd have to say that after putting Sarah Palin into the VP nominee slot directly after having W, as pres, lambasting NPR for being something they "don't want" completes a trinity of ignorance and (seemingly) unabashed stupidity.
BTW, have you heard that the GOP is going to fund efforts to revive "Two-and-a-Half Men?" Aren't they also thinking about supporting universal healthcare in case Gallagher gets sick again? I just hope for the sake of the party that nothing ever happens to Jeff Dunham.
Once again, you have to default to some comedy routine because you cannot counter my evidence that the Tea Party is not racist as you banally claim.
As for Ms Coulter, she is a bombastic bomb thrower that likes seeing her name in headlines. Tis a shame because she is very intelligent and is often correct.
As for this issue, she is pointing out all the hysteria over the "plume of radiation" that is about to reach the US mainland. The media has people totally petrified over radiation.
Quick, what is the increased rate of cancer in Chernobyl the last 25 yrs?
As for the lack of media coverage....compare the paltry coverage this study received versus what opposite results would have gotten. look how the media is going crazy over the radiation scare in the US.
But the science on hormesis is incomplete and complicated. There are several types of radiation and varying dosages of each type may give different results. And what may be able to reduce a certain disease may cause the incidence of others to increase.
The answer is 1.8% according to a UN study from 2006. That is, the cancer rate prior to the accident was 20% and after it is 21.8%. And it is not known how much of that increase is due to radiation or attributed to the toxic materials that spewed out of the reactor.
Actors?
You forgot the worst actor of all, our pathetic excuse of a president, he fooled more people that all of those that you mentioned.
You really should not watch FOX news. That channel is reserved for those people that actually want an objective view.
m,
Is Silly your middle name? Grow up.
Radiation reducing risk of cancer, now there's a new one! Imagine using radiation to treat cancer, what a concept!
Friend--
The context was the radiation in Japan. Ms. Coulter's implication is that "the government" is covering up the fact that radiation is good for us. Radiation treatment for cancer is not the same. It is highly pinpointed on a tumor, not a general, full body dose. Coulter's discussion is completely irrelevant to the general issue of radiation exposure from a power plant meltdown.
Not sure if you caught it, but Coulter claims she got her information from two newspapers, and then tells us that there is a media conspiracy to cover it up. Her government-media coverup assertions are what's funny.
Vestin Abgile--
Even if my name is "Silly," it's much better than yours.
M,
I have to laugh when you just name Republicans. Remember Bill Clinton? He could have played Steve Urkel.. I have to say I find it amusing how one seems to consistently bash the right and others bash the left.. When will we learn that it shouldn't matter about what the letter is that represents one's views? I find it very hard to believe that a R on here disagrees with everything the D's do and vice versa.
M The context was the radiation in Japan.
Actually....no. She said "what the government says is minimum exposures" and then went on to quote studies in Canada, Taiwan, and the USA. She was talking about governmental minimums in the US.
But this is a good example of what happens when people outside a scientific filed try to interpret their reports. There are several types of radiation and different ways to be exposed to it. There are also varying affects with varying intensities, length of exposures, and other issues such as toxicity in play. All of these factors will alter the outcomes of exposure.
Suppose on ingests a small amount of a radioactive isotope of Cesium by drinking contaminated milk and later gets ill. Was it the intensity of radiation, the length of exposure, the type of radiation, or did the illness have nothing to do with the radiation but it was the toxicity of the Cesium?
And for the "media coverage" that she is complaining about. She read it in two newspapers....when newspaper readership is at all time lows, especially the NYT whose readership is so low that it is in dire financial straits. The fact that no television or radio stations or even news magazines picked it up shows a lack of coverage.
Had a study showing one dental X-ray caused oral cancers, it would have been a top news story for days.
The problem with ephiphanies, Matt, is that only intelligent people are capable of having them. People who have no critical or analytical thinking skills have no chance at an epiphany. That leaves about 60 % of American people with no chance of having an epiphany.
Bob, and those who think like him, have no chance what so ever.
Herman Cain was on C-SPAN over the weekend
And after wards Ann Coulter tweeted; "Watching Herman Cain on CSPAN. He is clearly the only choice for president if Christie doesn't run."
What a racist comment!!!
I can't tell how serious you are, but if true, your thesis would explain a great deal. It really would.
While we're at it, how about shadow governments? Or the possibly less paranoid idea that it's actually corporations, not governments, that are running the world?
So-called "rational" explanations of why things are the way they are . . . rational explanations just don't cut the mustard.
