Did you see 60 Minutes on this Sunday night? Apparently, Ireland and other European nations are stealing biz from us by taxing WAY less. I'm with Stewart -- I give up. What's a good counter strategy?
Yeah, wow...Now the question is: What are YOU going to do about it? I'll tell you what I'm going to do: find the main number to the IRS and talk to them and plead my case about why I don't have $750 that I owe them. Then I'm going to get off the phone, strike a smoke, pet the dog, eat a Dorito, and take a dump.
I saw the 60 Minutes segment as well. As far as I'm concerned, corporations such as GE and Cisco can stay overseas. They are certainly not interested in creating jobs in this country any longer. It is much cheaper to employ workers overseas. Americans need to understand that we are no longer necessary as either workers or consumers to the big multinationals They are ONLY interested in tax breaks regardless of what they say.
I think lowering the tax rate for certain "mom and pop" corporations in this country does make sense. As long as they are employing people here and keeping their operations here..great. Move the 35% tax rate up starting at say...$2 million instead of $335,000. And eliminate the loopholes while you're at it!
