Where are the gods?

by M. Stewart
As at least some of you know, I've taken some time off ORL, but now I'm back. Thanks for waiting.

I guess the big news today involves the release of former FBI Director Louis Freeh's report on the Penn State/Jerry Sandusky child sex scandal. The report indicates that head coach Joe Paterno, former university president Graham Spanier, and other senior Penn State officials actively covered up Sandusky's extensive crimes against children to avoid bad publicity for the football program. Paterno's family issued a statement defending the late coach, claiming that he must not have understood what was really going on.

At the very least, Paterno's legacy is in the toilet, except at Penn State itself, which is less of a university than a football program. For the Penn State faithful, Paterno will remain a god. The report virtually assures that Penn State will be hit with multiple lawsuits on behalf of the victims, not to mention possible criminal charges against the individuals involved in the cover-up. If Paterno hadn't died in such a timely manner, he most likely would have ended up in prison with his pal Jerry.

While the Sandusky case gives new meaning to the word "disgusting," it pales in comparison to the centuries of institutionalized homosexual rape sponsored by the Roman Catholic Church. Yahweh seems to have been too busy to intervene and punish the pedophiles. The creator and judge of the universe pulled a Joe Paterno.

Moving from Yahweh to Allah, everybody is kicking up a fuss about the video showing an Afghan Taliban executing a woman for "adultery" while 150 men cheered him on. I wonder what adultery is to the Taliban? Did the victim look at a man? Did she walk outside without permission? Did the black bag slip off her head?

If this insane behavior is not indicative of the sickness of Islam--which, we're told, is a religion of "peace"--then why haven't so-called moderate Muslims throughout the world done anything about the daily crimes of their brethren? Why don't so-called moderate Muslims seek out and destroy the terrorists and misogynists who continue to destroy the credibility of the faith? Given the daily diet of crimes committed by Muslims in the name of Allah, how can any sane, decent person continue to profess Islam? And where is Allah? I guess he's also too busy to control his own worshipers.

Does anyone know where the gods themselves have gone?

"Institutionalized homosexual rape"? I think when you look at the reports of pedophilia in the Catholic church around the world you will find bith male and female children being abused. Institutionalized pedophilia is a more accurate description.

Perhaps you're right, but the church is best known for harboring homosexual pedophiles. I don't mean to imply that it's any worse than heterosexual pedophilia.

Matt, when you die, you are going straight to HELL. You still have time to repent, but will you?

Mike--
At least I'll be dead and won't know what's happening. Of course you probably believe that my "spirit" is immortal, right? Well, if I'm going to be a ghost of some kind, then I won't have a body, so I won't feel the pain of being burned for eternity. Either way, I'm not worried about it.

Come on, Mike, grow up. The hell/heaven thing is something parents and preachers use to scare children. I can't remember a time when I fell for that nonsense.

Hey, at least I'm not a pedophile or a misogynist. I'll leave that to the churches.

We come to The Lord as a child.

Mike--
That's fine with me. I really don't care how or what people worship as long as they don't persecute, torture, kill, and rape while they're doing it. History shows that religious people tend to gravitate towards those crimes. As an American, I also will not tolerate religion in politics. Otherwise, feel free to be a child and to condemn those who aren't.
